COMMENT RECOVERY

In a scenario where you're in the middle of typing out a client or case comment and you suddenly lose internet or reach the 60 minute activity time-out, eimmigration has a comment recovery feature which may help in restoring said comment.  Note that the application does enforce a time-out after 1 hour, and this is enforced on the server side as a security check against possibly forgetting to log out. Because the program is web based, and because it contains sensitive client data, the time-out is in place to prevent scenarios in which you leave a window open for too long. Also, it is important to note that in case you need to recover a  comment, it must be done immediately after the time-out or accidental window close as the program can only store the most recently edited comment.

To recover a log entry, you should open the log that wasn’t saved to see a pop-up which will ask you recover the log. Or, if the log was created and never saved, click the Add Comment button to see the recovery pop up.

Here are some more details on this process in case you'd like to see it in action:

  1. Go to the Logs tab of either a client or case.
  2. Click the Add Comment button.
  3. In the Comments section of the resulting window, enter something (e.g. “this is a test…”).
  4. Wait a couple of minutes for the auto-save function to kick-in and then without clicking the Save or Close buttons, simply exit your browser (exiting your browser will be the equivalent of your session timing out due to inactivity).
  5. Restart your browser, go to your eimmigration site, log in and go to the Logs tab of the same case.
  6. Now click the Add Comment button.  At this point, you will be prompted with a pop-up message similar to the one shown below:
  7. If you click OK, you'll be shown the auto-saved content and can decide whether to load the content to the comment field or ignore the auto-saved content.
  8. Comment recovery can also be done on comments that you previously saved but made edits on. In case you need to recover the lost edits, go back to the log that you were working on, and open it up to see the recovery pop up as seen above.
