ACCESS CONTROLS

Access Controls functionality are available in eimmigration and allow you to give client and/or case information access to users through the client portal. This feature is particularly helpful when you have multiple signatories or corporate users that need to access an employee's case and/or client information. Let's take a look at the basics of the Access Controls functionality.

  1. Go to Search>Clients/Contacts.
  2. Change the type to Business, and search for an employer.
  3. Open the Employer's profile.
  4. Click on the Members tab.
  5. In the members list, you will see a column labeled Member Access To This Client's Cases. They can be set to blocked, all, or assigned only.
    1. NOTE: If you do not have any members (signatories or employees) linked, please do so at this time in order to proceed further.
  6. Definition of options:
    1. Blocked: If this is selected, the party in question will not be able to view any client or case information for the client (business or individual) in question.
    2. All: If this is selected, the party in question will be able to view all client and case information for the client (business or individual) in question
    3. Assigned Only: If this is selected, the party in question will be able to view only the client and/or case information that they are assigned to (see NOTE below for further explanation).
  7. Next, open a case profile.
  8. Click on the Case Parties tab to bring up the Access Control sub-tab.
  9. From here you will be able to view all parties who have access to this case information via the client portal.
    1. NOTE: Any party that is linked to the case (case parties are shown in step 8), automatically have access to the case. These parties will be labeled accordingly, and they will not have a icon next to their name.
    2. The party that is set as All (shown in step 6), is also checked off and appears on this list because they have access to ALL cases for which the given employer is linked.
    3. The party that is set as Assigned Only (show in step 6), appears on this list because they are set as ASSIGNED ONLY for which the given employer is linked. However, since the party is not checked off, and they do not have access to this case (via the client portal) yet, because they haven't been assigned to it.  Once the party is checked off, they will have access to this case via the client portal.
